I wrote Signal Faded with James Gordon. He came to me with the idea for the song. He joked that I epitomized the idea, so he HAD to write it with me. I loved writing this song. And I love singing it. Mostly I love when I'm playing with a band and the players do their soloing at the end.
lyrics
SIGNAL FADED
Words and music by Katherine Wheatley and James Gordon
Bitter coffee, but one more cup
Gives me the courage to call you up
I got one more quarter and one more prayer
That you'll still listen, this time you'll care
'Cause last time we made a good connection
The static started and our lines got crossed
When I thought we'd braved a new direction
The signal faded, the call was lost
Signal faded, the call was lost
Manitoba, Roadside Cafe
Another western, another day
The radio's playing some 70's song
That's just as tired as this road is long
'Cause last time we made a good connection
The static started and our lines got crossed
When I thought we'd braved a new direction
The signal faded, the call was lost
Signal faded, the call was lost
I keep on stopping in every town
Me and these pay phones keep breaking down
From here to Whitehorse, takes a long long time
But not long enough to drive you out of my mind
'Cause last time we made a good connection
The static started and our lines got crossed
When I thought we'd braved a new direction
The signal faded, the call was lost
Signal faded, the call was lost
